Lady Gaga's MTV VMAs performance made Ralph Macchio a trending topic on Twitter. So how did the actor react to being compared to the biggest female pop star in the world?

Evidently Gaga's male alter ego Jo Calderone caused the Twitter buzz—it seems that his greaser look reminded a lot of people of Ralph Macchio's character Johnny Cade from The Outsiders. And of course Ralph has also played a passionate musician like Mama Monster, although he's not an accomplished guitarist like Jo Calderone's VMAs mate Brian May. (Ralph's infamous guitar solo in the movie Crossroads was actually performed by Steve Vai.)

Still, Gaga would probably be a fan of that film. Just like her You and I video, it's set out in the country, and she'd surely appreciate its mythical elements—Macchio plays an aspiring musician who duels with the devil's guitarist for a man's soul.

But back to Lady Gaga helping Ralph get a little Twitter love. Apparently the actor didn't have a problem with being compared to Jo Calderone, because he had this to tweet: "I'm a trending topic right now thanks to @ladygaga on VMA's! Respect."

It was kind of funny that Lady Gaga slipped and fell as her male persona (because she was actually wearing flats for once), and she had to enjoy not going through twenty costume changes is one night. Jo also had Britney Spears blushing by saying that he/she used to touch herself/himself while laying in bed and looking at her posters. However, Brit-Brit refused to recreate her Madonna moment with him.

Unfortunately not everyone was impressed by Jo Calderone. When the camera cut to Justin Bieber's face, he looked extremely solemn in his granny glasses. But why so serious, Biebs? Maybe he was concerned because Gaga looked manlier than he does and worried that her male alter ego will start stealing his fans. Or maybe Justin Bieber was just jealous because Jo's hair looks better than his (Bruno Mars probably felt the same way). And then there's always the possibility that his pet snake Johnson escaped. Whatever the case, his look was priceless.

Anyway, if this whole music thing doesn't work out for Lady Gaga, she could always star in the remake of My Cousin Vinny (interestingly enough, Mama Monster wants Marisa Tomei to play her if a movie is ever made about her life).
