These California girls both had the same idea when they stepped out at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards wearing back-baring gowns!

Though the styles were a bit different, Miley Cyrus and Kim Kardashian both look super sexy yet still chic while wearing a backless gown. Which fashionista do you prefer: Miley or Kim? Cast your vote in the poll and play fashion critic in the comments. 

Miley chose a floor-length, long-sleeved, printed Roberto Cavalli gown to wear on the black carpet. Her hair was swept up and paired with dangling earrings. 

Meanwhile, newlywed Kim's metallic cap-sleeve KaufmanFranco gown, also floor-length sparkled on the carpet. She chose to wear her hair down for the event.
