Liverpool FC 3 Bolton 1 - beauty and the best for LFC - Liverpool Daily Post

THERE'S a new addition to Liverpool FC's Anfield atmosphere this season, and it isn't just the optimism.

Before each home game, veteran announcer George Septhon reveals a playlist, selected by a Liverpool supporter, to precede the traditional chorus of 'You'll Never Walk Alone'.

On Saturday, one fan seemed to sense what was about to come. U2's 'Beautiful Day' greeted the teams' arrival in the tunnel.

For Kenny Dalglish and his side, there have been plenty of afternoons to savour over the past eight months. This may just have been the sweetest of all.

The last time Bolton visited Anfield, back on New Year's Day, Liverpool's stoppage time winner merely secured them a place in the Premier League's top 10, and gave beleaguered boss Roy Hodgson a week's stay of execution.

That was then, though. Liverpool have changed beyond all recognition since.

Hodgson was replaced by Dalglish a week after that game, and only four of the side he selected for his final Anfield fixture started here. Fernando Torres, who got the equaliser, has gone. Joe Cole, who grabbed the late winner, is likely to follow him out this week.

Gone, too, is the stale stench of pessimism which swirled around an unhappy Anfield during those days. In its place is a genuine sense that this is a club going places, and fast.

It has taken Dalglish just 231 days to create a side capable of topping the Premier League table – however brief Liverpool's stay at the summit was. Their unbeaten start to the campaign now stands at four games, and they are looking more impressive with each passing week.
